Behind the Decks

DJ Nel got his start behind the mic at 97.1 AMP Radio, learning to read a room before he ever had one standing in front of him. That instinct — knowing exactly when to hold back, when to build, and when to drop — carried straight off the airwaves and onto the decks.

An open-format DJ at his core, Nel moves fluidly between house, dance, and top-40, building sets around the energy of the floor rather than a fixed script. He's held down summer residencies, opened arena-sized stages for some of dance music's biggest headliners, and kept dance floors moving everywhere from rooftop lounges to casino ballrooms.

Club, pool deck, rooftop, or festival stage — the job is the same: read the room, hold it, and never let the energy drop.
